Since 1995, MACTE has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (the Department). We are proud of this recognition because of the benefits it provides for our Montessori educator preparation programs, its graduates, and the communities they serve. Recognition by the Department means the Secretary of Education has determined MACTE is approved to be a reliable authority as to the quality of education and training provided by Montessori educator preparation programs.
To earn this recognition, MACTE undergoes a rigorous process that involves providing evidence through a submitted petition, a visit from a Department analyst, and a hearing before the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI).
