| Purpose of the Professional Portfolio |
- Serve as an indicator of equivalency to the Bachelors degree, and allow some latitude for institutions/programs in hiring experienced Montessori instructors and field supervisors.
- Utilize the strength of a variety of work/study experiences to support the mission/goals/objectives of Montessori teacher education institutions/programs.
- Ensure that a variety of skill/work-related tasks relating to personal growth and development are included as experiences (as opposed to repetition of the same tasks over a number of years).

| What is a Professional Portfolio? |

A Professional Portfolio is a collection of an individuals professional beliefs, goals, practices, and achievements. The Portfolio combines both process and product, and includes the selection and evaluation of artifacts. The products are the actual artifacts stemming from the process. The Portfolio will be a vehicle with which to capture some of the complexities and unique features of the individuals own teaching and learning practices.
